Groove Hostel was created by two young Hungarian travellers, Daniel and Peter, with the mission to create the perfect youth hostel for a perfect city.

Fed up with our average jobs, we decided to go our own way and create a working environment we really love: one for travellers, by travellers. We set out in early 2008 with a mission: to create the best youth hostel in Budapest, one that offers personal service to round-the-world backpackers and casual weekend visitors alike, one that caters to all the needs of the traveller, one that would be good enough for us, travellers. In short, a home away from home.


Fully renovating and remodeling a massive apartment in a beautiful historical building from 1898, we paid attention to every minor and major detail in order to ensure an unforgettable stay for all our guests. Alas, in the summer of 2008, The Groove was born and quickly became so popular that travellers were showing up even when it was temporarily closed. We learned the lesson – The Groove has never been closed for a single day since.

We have made our dream come true and now have board meetings on our balcony watching the beautiful Budapest sunset. You are welcome to join us!
